Author
Jordan Cleland
Summary
This online article briefly describes a research study which investigated changes in the level of autism symptoms over time in a study of adolescents and adults on the autism spectrum. Symptoms became less severe over time. Higher quality of mother-child relationships, and greater maternal praise, was associated with fewer maladaptive behaviors.

The Autism Spectrum Disorders Treatment and Care Research group, based out of York University, writes summaries of research studies on autism and developmental disabilities to inform parents, individuals with autism, practitioners, and the general public on recent findings about autism.
