Author
Jordan Cleland
Summary
This online article briefly summarizes a research study which investigated suicide risk in adults with autism. Suicide attempts were reported at a much higher rate than in the general population, and greater difficulties with anxiety, depression, attention-switching, and communication predicted a higher risk of suicide attempts.
The Autism Spectrum Disorders Treatment and Care Research group, based out of York University, writes summaries of research studies on autism and developmental disabilities to inform parents, individuals with autism, practitioners, and the general public on recent findings about autism.
