Summary
This online article describes a study which examined the characteristics of siblings of children with autism and siblings of typically-developing children. Siblings of children with autism had higher rates of behavioral and emotional difficulties and were more likely to avoid their siblings. Family stressors were related to siblings' ability to manage their emotions.

The Autism Spectrum Disorders Treatment and Care Research group, based out of York University, writes summaries of research studies on autism and developmental disabilities to inform parents, individuals with autism, practitioners, and the general public on recent findings about autism.
