Title
Do Autistic Traits and Anger Rumination Link Social Anxiety With Aggression?
Author
Jordan Cleland
Summary
This online article summarizes a research study that examined the relationships between aggression, anger rumination, anxiety, and levels of autistic traits. Both anxiety and level of autistic traits were related to anger rumination, which was in turn related to hostility and aggression, suggesting that anger rumination may be a useful target for interventions.
Note that this research was carried out by measuring autistic traits in a sample of typically-developing undergraduates, not in individuals with autism.
The Autism Spectrum Disorders Treatment and Care Research group, based out of York University, writes summaries of research studies on autism and developmental disabilities to inform parents, individuals with autism, practitioners, and the general public on recent findings about autism.
