Summary
This online article describes a research study that was conducted to explore the relationship between respite care and psychiatric hospitalizations in children and youth with autism. Results indicate that the more respite and home/community aid services that a family used in the last 60 days, the less likely their child was to be hospitalized for psychiatric reasons.

The Autism Spectrum Disorders Treatment and Care Research group, based out of York University, writes summaries of research studies on autism and developmental disabilities to inform parents, individuals with autism, practitioners, and the general public on recent findings about autism.
