Summary
This online article provides a brief overview of a research study conducted to examine various forms of bullying in children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The researchers also investigated the relationship between victimization and mental health problems, and studied individual factors (e.g., deficits in communication) and contextual factors (e.g., parent mental health) that increased the likelihood of being a victim to bullying.
The Autism Spectrum Disorders Treatment and Care Research group, based out of York University, writes summaries of research studies on autism and developmental disabilities to inform parents, individuals with autism, practitioners, and the general public on recent findings about autism.
