Title
The Use or Misuse of Biomedical Treatment Approaches to Autism
Author
John Mary Farrugia
Summary
This online article from the Malta Medical Journal reviews research regarding a number of biomedical interventions for autism. Evidence failed to support any of the interventions studied, which included hyperbaric oxygen therapy, chelation therapy, immunoglobulin therapy, antifungal/yeast therapies, gluten/casein free diets, digestive enzyme supplements, and various other complementary treatments. In some cases (e.g., chelation), evidence suggested the therapies are associated with serious risks.
