Summary
This article provides information on Asperger syndrome in regards to epidemiology, the DSM-IV criteria for diagnosis, clinical features, through the lifespan and thoughts for management in the school.

Please note that the document is based on the DSM-IV, which was superseded by the DSM-5 in 2013. The DSM-5 replaced Asperger Syndrome and other Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDDs) with a single category of "Autism Spectrum Disorder." However, DSM-IV classifications may still apply to individuals diagnosed with autism prior to 2013.

The Asperger Autism Spectrum Education Network (ASPEN) is a nonprofit organization based in New Jersey, which endeavours to provide families of individuals on the autism spectrum with "education about the issues surrounding the disorders; support in knowing that they are not alone, and in helping individuals with ASDs and NLD achieve their maximum potential; [and] advocacy in areas of appropriate educational programs, medical research funding, adult issues and increased public awareness and understanding."
