This online article describes and evaluates Discrete Trial Training (DTT), which is the main strategy used to teach children on the autism spectrum in some early intensive Applied Behavior Analysis interventions. The article suggests that DTT may be useful in targeting specific behaviors and skills, but that it should be used within a broader intervention program and not on its own. The article recommends that additional research be undertaken to further explore the effects of DTT.
