Comparing the Rapid Prompting Method and Facilitated Communication
Author
Tostanoski, Amy; Lang, Russell; Raulston, Tracy; Carnett, Amarie; Davis, Tonya
Summary
This online article compares the rapid prompting method (RPM), an intervention intended to support communication by people with autism, to facilitated communication (FC), which is widely discredited. The authors of this article note that there is no empirical evidence to support the effectiveness of RPM, and they suggest that in RPM, like FC, messages may be produced by facilitators, not the people with autism.
